BOTH parents limit their caffeine intake as much as possible.

Caffeine and Infertility
For women - drinking as little
as one cup of coffee a day cuts the chance of conceiving in half.

For men – problems
with sperm count, motility and abnormalities are dose related
to the number of cups of coffee drank per day.

| CAFFEINE ADVERSELY EFFECTS THE WAY SPERM MOVE FORWARD
Caffeine is also present in tea, cola drinks, medicines and
chocolate.
Coffee with meals inhibits the absorption of iron and destroys
B complex vitamins.
Caffeine is excreted through breast milk, contributing to colic,
restlessness and general irritability.
Caffeine also has an adverse effect on the production of breast
milk.

Caffeine and Miscarriage
Drinking 3 or more cups of tea
or coffee a day is associated with increased risk of miscarriage

Caffeine during pregnancy can increase the
probability of chromosomal abnormality which could lead to a
miscarriage. (American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
1985)

| Since 1980, the US Food and Drug Administration has advised pregnant
women to minimise caffeine intake, citing the dangers of possible
miscarriage or having a mentally retarded baby. |

Even de-caffinated coffee is linked to an increased risk of miscarriage.
