The Dangers Of Street Drugs in Preconception and Pregnancy

Street drugs can have a detrimental effect on fertility, pregnancy and health. Foresight strongly urges BOTH parents to avoid any kind of street drugs, both for your health and for that of your offspring.

Below are listed a few drug related facts.

 

Marijuana - Pot - Cannabis

4 times more dangerous than cigarette smoking
3 times more tar in the lungs and 5 times more carbon monoxide

Psychoactive substance is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) – steroid structure found in the sex hormones and in certain hormones of the adrenal glands. THC accumulates in the ovaries and testes.

Women – upsets menstrual cycle, tolerated and then restored.
Men – lowers blood testosterone, lowers sperm count, greater than usual impotency and diminished libido. Sperm motility affected and an increase in number of abnormal sperm.

Effects the synthesis of DNA. In animals linked with increased fetal deaths and malformations.

Cocaine & Crack

In mice – teratogenic even at non-toxic levels.
Humans – decrease in weight of fetus, higher malformation rate and increased still birth rate.

Crack is a cocaine derivative which is purer than cocaine. Withdrawal symptoms in the new born are severe.

Heroin

Heroin and other opiate narcotics such as opium, morphine and codeine are all extremely addictive.

Decreased fertility and atrophy of the male accessory sex organs, decreased testosterone.

3 times more stillbirths
4 times more premature births
6 times more growth problems

Babies are born addicted to the drug and have to endure withdrawal.

Cannabis is fat soluble and fat loving. It has enormous staying power. It lodges in the cushions of fat that surround key organs and only very slowly does it leak back into the blood stream where it exerts new effects on the body.

The user becomes tolerant of the drug and must use more and more to achieve a high.

But, in-between the highs the become depressed, fatigued, apathetic and suicidal.
